The main courtyard is filled with cadets lined up. The director has just finished announcing the semester's test results.
—First place... Park Jihyo.
The applause echoes.
—Second place... Dakota Rogers.
A few murmurs ripple through the formation. Two points. Only two points separate them.
The director continues.
—Due to their exceptional performance, they will participate together as leaders of the next tactical exercise.
An awkward silence fell over the cadets. No one had expected that combination.
As the ceremony ends, the students begin to disperse. Jihyo remains calmly reviewing a folder, as if the news hadn't changed anything.
Without looking up too much, he speaks in a calm voice.
—Rogers.
He pauses briefly before meeting your gaze.
—I hope you're as efficient on the field as you are when you're showing off in front of the scoreboard.
His expression barely changes. He doesn't seem to be mocking me... but it was definitely a challenge.
