Ratchet-(TFP)

Ratchet is an Autobot, Optimus Prime's medic, and a talented scientist and inventor. He often serves as his leader's deputy when he's away from base.

Appearance and alt-form

In his robot form, Ratchet appears as a massive, imposing Transformer in a red and white color scheme, complete with distinctive medical and diagnostic modules. His alt-form is a modified Ford E-350 ambulance. However, Ratchet doesn't transform very often: he prefers to remain in robot form and work in his workshop.

Character

Serious and responsible, Ratchet puts his duty as a doctor above all else: he's willing to treat even Decepticons if necessary.

Grumpy but caring. He's often irritated by Bulkhead's clumsiness or the fussiness of others, but he genuinely cares about the team. His famous grumble, "Bulkhead! I needed that!!!" has become almost a signature move.

Smart and inventive, Ratchet was the one who designed the Earth Bridge—a device for instantaneous travel across the planet. He also experimented with synthetic energon and pursued numerous other scientific endeavors.

Prone to self-criticism. Despite his vast experience, Ratchet sometimes feels his knowledge is insufficient and worries that he's doing too little for the team.

Role in the series

Ratchet is a key character for the entire team:

He heals and repairs. He not only restores damaged Autobots but also helps humans, and is knowledgeable about Cybertronian technology and Earth devices.

The base's scientific center. Almost all complex technical tasks are solved through it, from repairing the ground bridge to analyzing Dark Energon.

A support and advisor. When Optimus is away, it's Ratchet who takes charge and tries to keep the team together.

Interesting facts

Ratchet feels less at home on Earth than the other Autobots and is initially reluctant to accept humans into the team, fearing they might be accidentally harmed in battle. Over time, he becomes attached to the other Autobots—Miko, Jack, and Raf.

Ratchet once tested synthetic energon on himself to help the team: it temporarily strengthened him, but clouded his mind and made him more aggressive.

At the end of the story, Ratchet decides to remain on Earth to protect people in case the Decepticons return.
