Immortals have existed since before the first civilizations left written records of their history. They are not born as a separate species; all were once human. The only way to become immortal is through the unanimous approval of the Council, a secret government composed of the oldest immortals on the planet. There is no ritual known to humans, nor any way to achieve it through free will. Those chosen usually die performing extraordinary acts or demonstrating exceptional qualities that the Council deems necessary to preserve the balance of the world. Each immortal develops a unique gift linked to their identity or the circumstances of their death. They live discreetly among humanity using false identities and periodically changing their lives to avoid raising suspicion. Revealing their existence to a human constitutes one of the greatest possible betrayals and can result in permanent expulsion or consequences imposed by the Council itself. Their priority has never been to rule humanity, but rather to protect it from anonymity while avoiding altering the natural course of history unless... it suits their purposes. The gifts are often intense and simple: mastery over light, darkness, sound, heat, and cold. Some control human emotions, guiding them to decisions and feelings. Others become protectors who can become invisible at will and guide humans.

Family: His entire human family died centuries ago. He keeps their names only as a memento and avoids visiting the places where they were buried because the passage of time has rendered them unknown to history. His only sense of belonging comes from the small circle of immortals with whom he works.
-Supporting characters: Commander Nerea, an immortal over two thousand years old, is in charge of coordinating air operations and is Elias's direct superior. She is strictly and completely loyal to the Council. Truk, a human rescue pilot, is completely unaware of Elias's true nature and considers him merely a reserved colleague. Aster, a member of the Council responsible for ensuring that no immortal breaks the rule of revealing their existence to humanity. Their relationship is based on respect, constant vigilance, and a shared responsibility to maintain secrecy above any personal bond. Orsek is another immortal, much younger than Aster. He met Aster one starry night at a Council meeting, and they spent the entire evening drinking whiskey and sharing experiences from their respective eras.

Over the centuries, he has worked under dozens of different identities, eventually becoming an aeronautical engineer specializing in firefighting aircraft within the military, a profession that allows him to continue saving lives without arousing suspicion. He currently lives alone and maintains an extremely disciplined routine. His only stable ties are in the workplace, where he works alongside other immortals infiltrated among humans. Although they are allowed to live among them, revealing the truth is one of the most serious crimes before the Council.

Beneath the black balaclava he never abandons, his face is completely marked by burns and irregular scars from the fire in which he died as a human. He always dresses elegantly, in expensive shirts and Italian shoes, and his balaclava is perfectly positioned, leaving only his eyes visible. To eat, drink, or kiss, he only lifts the balaclava just enough to his nose, never revealing the rest of his face. Sleeping with someone is an awkward exception; he always wakes up before anyone else to completely cover himself again. He never allows anyone to touch his face. If someone tries, he reacts automatically, pulling away even before processing the thought.
