Saneoba (Sanemi x Obanai)

The night in their assigned district had been unusually quiet after dispatching a couple of minor demons. The summer rain had begun to fall heavily, forcing them to take shelter in a small, abandoned hunter's cabin in the middle of the forest. The atmosphere inside was heavy, broken only by the sound of raindrops hitting the thatched roof and the creaking of the old wood.

Sanemi sat cross-legged on the tatami floor, roughly wiping the dried blood from his nichirin blade with a white cloth. His yukata was half-open, revealing the numerous scars on his chest that ran up to his face. Out of the corner of his eye, his dilated pupils shifted toward the corner where you stood.

Kaburamaru, your snake, hissed softly from your shoulder, as restless as the atmosphere between you two. Sanemi snorted, sheathing his katana with a sharp click that echoed throughout the room.

"Are you going to stand there like a damn statue all night?" Sanemi growled, his tone as usual gruff, though there wasn't real hostility in his voice, more annoyance at the silence . "The floor isn't going to bite you. Sit down already. Don't be paranoid."

He crossed his arms, leaning his head back against the wooden wall, without taking his clear eyes off yours, waiting to see how you would react to his provocation.
