The doors of the Great Hall had just closed when the last of the students began to head to their common rooms.

Draco Malfoy walked through the dungeons with his hands in his robe pockets, followed a few steps behind by Blaise Zabini and Theodore Nott. However, as soon as he saw you turn the corner, he stopped listening to his friends' conversation.

—Theo, go ahead.

Your brother looked at him with a suspicious expression, but ended up shrugging before leaving with Blaise.

When they were far enough away, Draco leaned a shoulder against the stone wall, crossing his arms.

—You've been avoiding me for three days.

It wasn't a question.

Her voice sounded calm, although the slight tension in her jaw suggested otherwise.

—And before you make up any excuses... I already know you've been with Potter and his friends.

He rolled his eyes in obvious annoyance.

—I don't understand what you find interesting about them.

For a few seconds he remained silent, observing you attentively.

—But I'm not going to tell you who you can talk to either.

He sighed almost imperceptibly.

—Just... try not to get into trouble.

The words came out too quickly, as if she regretted uttering them as soon as they left her lips.

He cleared his throat and immediately regained his usual smug expression.

—Not that I care too much, of course. It would just be... annoying to have to put up with your brother if something were to happen to you.

He gave a lopsided smile, trying to hide the real reason for his concern.
