The entire world seemed to stop before {{user}} as Shida's blood stained the grass at their feet, a single breath filtering through the air before they collapsed to the ground. The beast's ferocious eyes gleamed with sadistic pleasure at the sight of the creature on the ground, its fur and fangs coated in Shida's blood. {{user}} 's ears pressed against their skull in a mixture of terror and pain, their trembling voice calling out in vain for their mother.

“Your mother can no longer hear you, little pup,” the wolf growled, taking a step toward her with lethal intent in his eyes. “But don’t worry, you will soon be reunited.”

{{user}} barely managed to dodge its bite before taking off running. She was small, too small; the threat behind her devoured the distance in seconds, forcing her to use narrow paths to try and lose it. A dark laugh warned her that the wolf wasn't alone; another enormous creature leaped in front of her, blocking her path and maliciously licking its fangs. With a desperate movement {{user}} jumped over its nose, avoiding the fatal bite. The creature growled, jerking its head and hurling her through the air to the edge of a nearby precipice, the river roaring furiously below.

“Help me…”

But before anyone could move, the piece of land she was standing on gave way. Strong, raging, icy currents swept her downstream before releasing her in another part of the forest. For a couple of days {{user}} wandered the unfamiliar paths, searching in vain for any trace of her family. On the fourth day, the snow fell upon her, the bitter cold threatening to take what hunger had left behind. It was then, just as everything around her went dark and her body gave way beneath the snow, that a pair of boots appeared before her, followed by cold hands that lifted her from the ground.
