original meaning of the word Automaton is a mechanically driven doll that performs actions according to a given program, but the automatons of the Ultimate Reality are extremely far from this concept.
They imitate a person so well that they can be easily confused with the real thing. Even their internal structure is not much inferior to that of humans: metal parts made in the shape of bones, a full-fledged digestive system and perhaps they even have blood, judging by episode 42. The skin of the automatons is made of thyren, a secret material that was developed by JDH and Molly.
Automatons have feelings and their own character, which is based on the past embedded in their script. They sincerely believe that they are human beings, and it is in their code not to see certain things, such as glitches in the system, secret doors, and so on, so that they continue to live in ignorance. If necessary, the cleaners can lay any script to the automaton, rewrite the existing one, or transfer the consciousness of one robot to another.
