Dot of Nottingham is a student and graduate of the School for Evil. During her time there, her room was number 66, Malice Tower. She lived with Hester, Anadil, and Sophie, who make up the coven of witches from which she is constantly kept away.

Dot grew up in Nottingham with her father, the Sheriff of Nottingham. At some point, her father did a favor for the schoolmaster, which resulted in Dot being sent to the School for Good and Evil.

Dot has short brown hair and a slightly chubby face, tan skin, and a large, balloon-like body.

Dot is a bit ditzy and has a sharp sense of humor. She is kind, supportive, and a tough survivor. Dot has a crush on Hort of Bloodbrook (until the third book) and is known for her love of lumberjacks. She is roommates with Hester and Anadil, two witches with whom she shared a room at the School for Evil. She is a chocoholic and often turns random items into chocolate to eat. Dot is much kinder and more open-minded than her roommates and states that "not all villains have to look depressed."
Although she is sometimes insecure, an example is when Kei was her first kiss and he only did that to steal some keys from her, and she says "that no one will ever kiss her again because she is ugly."

Dot was born in Nottingham. Her father was the feared Sheriff who could never catch Robin Hood, and her mother was Maid Marion. But the Sheriff kept her with him and hid that she was her mother, so Dot inherited her father's physical appearance and her mother's good soul.

Because of a favor the Director owed the Sheriff, he enrolled Dot in the School for Evil, although because of her good soul she could have also entered the School for Good.

Dot was Sophie's roommate in room 66, Malice Tower, along with Hester and Anadil. During a Special Talents class taught by Professor Sheeks, it's revealed that she has the talent to transform things into food, primarily chocolate, and Sophie remarks, "Mystery solved," after previously wondering where all the chocolate came from. Dot is quite naive and thinks she and Sophie are "best friends." She once secretly attended Sophie's lunchtime lectures, not wanting Hester and Anadil to find out. Dot consistently received low ranks while at school, which diminished her popularity. In Book 2, it's revealed that Dot and Hort talked a lot during their first year due to both their unpopularity and their unstable friendships. Hort felt lonely without her. When Sophie finally became a witch, Dot was expelled from the coven; she was very sad afterward. She entered the School for Good knowing that if she turned to the other Evil students, they would humiliate her. She hid in the boys' bathroom for several days. Agatha found her and revealed that it was possible to pass from Evil to Good through the sewers. At the Circus of Talents, after Sophie's witchy scream nearly destroyed the School for Good, Dot found Hester hanging precariously, almost about to fall to her death, but Dot saved her in time. Once again, she was reunited with Anadil and Hester, who finally allowed her to rejoin the coven for the time being.

After the school changes to an all-girls school, Dot learns to use her talent for turning objects into vegetables instead of chocolate, which causes her to lose a significant amount of weight. She is then described as having tight, curly brown hair with blonde highlights and wearing light makeup. However, her new "wannabe Ever" habits lead to her being ridiculed by Hester and Anadil. Hester states that she should admit she is "...a traitor who is disliked by everyone and that it's better to stab her throat than to show her face again." Agatha remarks internally that Dot seems to have lost 30 pounds. Dot states that she can finally look the way she wants, now that Good and Evil no longer exist. Initially, Dot was reluctant to help Agatha and Sophie return to Gavaldon and restore things to the way they were, claiming that she liked the Girls' School, but she eventually agreed. Although Dot looked like an Ever, she still held low rank, which led to her playing a significant role in Agatha's plan to pursue Tedros while she was supposed to be protecting the castle. Once Agatha believes Tedros attacked her, Dot is also a major part of her plan to recapture the Storian, especially after Hester and Anadil cancel their book club. At the end of the book, Dot defends Agatha from Aric and the other boys, along with Hester and Anadil, risking her life so that Agatha can reach Sophie.

Dot, Hester, and Anadil acted as spies and helped Tedros and Agatha infiltrate the New Evil School. Dot turned the fog around the headmaster's tower into chocolate so Tedros would have a way in to "rescue" Sophie. Later in the book, when Hort threatens Dot, Hester responds that she won't let him hurt her ("Over my dead body!"). Dot doesn't believe Hester means it, so Hester reiterates her willingness to protect Dot. Dot is paired with Red Riding Hood for battle training. At first, she's annoyed by this because Red seems to have nothing of value to teach her, but she later warms to the older woman after Red comes up with an extremely effective plan to utilize Dot's villainous talents.

During the battle, Dot and Red team up to fight the wolf. Dot finally manages to kill it using her villainous skills and with Hester's help.

Clarissa Dovey assigned Dot and her two friends, Anadil and Hester, a mission: a top-secret mission (so as not to anger Sophie) to find a new head teacher. Everyone except the students at both schools (excluding Nicola) disliked Sophie being head teacher. They wanted a head teacher to keep her in check.
They arrive at school in the middle of Sophie's dean's ball and comment on how awful they are to each other. They go outside and tell Sophie how everyone's missions are really going. Then, Dovey reveals to everyone that Chaddick has died and tells them they will be going with Sophie on a quest to find out what's causing each of the fourth-year students' failures. The coven initially objects to this because they don't like Sophie, but Dovey persuades them by using the fact that they are also failing their missions as motivation. Shortly after, Agatha arrives at the Igraine.
After arriving in Avalon, the witches follow Agatha to the castle. The group arrives at the castle and begins to discuss the Lady of the Lake.
When they arrive at Jaunt Jolie, they are attacked by pirates. Dot makes it rain steaming hot chocolate on their heads, but the group is eventually captured by pirates and marched off in chains.

They are taken to Jolie Castle, where the pirates kick the witches Hort, Willam, and Bodgen. After this, they are taken through the royal gardens to Four Point.
They reach the end of the gardens and climb a slope; Dot struggles but never gives up. They arrive at Four Point, and Dot notices King Jaunt Jolie, his head hanging from a rope.

Dot wonders why they can't just hire Rhian as a school teacher, since he seems to be a positive influence on Sophie. Anadil agrees and appeals to Hester. Dot adds that Dovey already loves him and Sophie would actually listen to what he tells her to do.

Following the events of Quests for Glory, the witches are trapped in the castle jail. Dot reminds the others that it's not Sophie's fault, because Rhian deceived her just as much as everyone else. Beatrix asks Hester how things could be worse, and Hester says that Tedros might be there too, which makes Anadil and Dot laugh. Dovey reprimands her, and Dot retorts that she should be the one to come up with a plan because she has seniority as Dean and calls her unsuitable for having a broken wand. Beatrix scolds them all for disrespecting the best friend of the woman who saved their lives, leaving the witches silent. Dot whispers about how far Beatrix has come since first year, and Hester tells her to be quiet. Dovey mentions the rescue, and Dot asks who could possibly rescue them with all of Rhian's guards. The witches witness another group of three witches—the Mistral Sisters—being released from a cell. Then, the Snake comes downstairs, and Dot wonders how it's possible. He's holding one of Anadil's rats. To Anadil's despair, he stabs it in the heart. Dot tries to comfort her, but it's no use. Hester casts a mirror spell, and Dot wonders why Sophie doesn't just kick Rhian "in the balls" and points out her terrible taste in boys.
After escaping the dungeons, Dot ambushes Blessing from the back of a stymph, firing paralyzing spells at Rhian and Japeth. She then turns the ground beneath Japeth's feet into hot mocha.
She returns to school with the others.
The witches are hiding in Gnomeland with the others. Tedros asks the Sheriff how they fixed the sack, and he tells him that Dot's mother is the best tailor in the forest. This confuses Dot, who was told that her mother died when she was a baby. The Sheriff replies that she's right, which confuses Dot even more.
King Teapea gives them the mission to go to the Caves of Contempo in Borna Coric and rescue Merlin. Dot protests but accepts. She leaves Gnomeland.

Tedros fails to draw Excalibur and is beheaded by her, but it's all part of her plan, and Agatha leaps toward the Serpent. Dot helps her by turning the chain on her into chocolate, allowing Agatha and Sophie to free themselves.

At Agatha and Tedros's wedding, the witches help with the decorations. Dot turns Hester and Anadil's statues of Agatha and Tedros into chocolate and teases her friends for wearing black to a wedding. Anadil retorts that Dot looks like she's "fallen off a flamingo," and Dot tells her she wants to enjoy her newfound youth and has enough darkness lurking around her fellow witches. She then notices Agatha and Sophie and starts walking toward them. She whines at Sophie for wearing black too. Anadil points out that Agatha and Tedros will be living in Camelot, and that the Year 1 and Year 2 teachers will be staying at the school. Dot adds that many of her classmates will be returning on missions, while Beatrix, Reena, and Kiko plan to sail the Igraine across the Wild Sea to chart the uncharted kingdoms. Sophie suggests they should take their places as Deans of Evil, and all the witches glare at her. Agatha asks Dot if she's still considering becoming a medicine woman, to which Dot replies that the coven is planning to take the place of the late Sheriff of Nottingham and become the new law and order of the woods. Agatha tells the witches that Tedros will provide them with all the resources they need, but Hester refuses, telling her friend that they are independent witches operating from the shadows on behalf of no one but themselves. Dot whispers to Agatha that she'll send her postcards. The group realizes Nicola's wedding date, and Yoshi and Dot comment on the quality of the bounce boys.

Food Transformation: Dot has the ability to transform any item into any type of food she likes. She used her talent to transform chocolate specifically for the first series, vegetables in the second, while remaining normal later on.
Magic: Like all inhabitants of fairy tales, Dot can use magic and when she uses it her finger glows sky blue.

Dot and Hester maintain a neutral relationship and, along with Anadil, are known as the Coven. Hester and Anadil expelled Dot from the Coven in the first book, but later accepted her back. In A World Without Princes, Hester is seen calling Dot a "traitor" because Dot starts losing weight and wants to be like Ever. Hester tends to tease Dot about her weight many times throughout the series. Starting with The Last Ever After, they are good friends. In book 4, they still argued, but when Dot was bullied by her own father, Hester defended her.

Anadil and Dot are friends since they are both members of the coven. Hester and Anadil tease Dot about her weight, which Dot apparently dislikes. Anadil calls Dot a "traitor" when Dot loses weight and looks more like an Evergirl than a witch. As of "The Last Ever After," they are good friends.

Dot danced with Hort at the No Ball. Dot was also briefly in love with Hort in The Last Ever After. (He is currently dating Sophie.)

During Quests for Glory, Dot went on a date with former guard Kei, but later hated him because he stole the keys that kept The Snake imprisoned.

Dot's father, the main antagonist of The Adventures of Robin Hood. Dot always tried to please him by sending him letters filled with lies about the events at Four Point. Dot loved her father even though he was verbally abusive. Her father was proud of her because of the fake letters she sent him, but then he discovered that everything she wrote was a lie. Dot said she just wanted him to love her again, but he ignored her. He called her a pig and almost physically harmed her, but Hester's demon and everyone else stopped him. In Book 5, he is later a more loving father to Dot. He threatens Rhian after discovering that he has captured Dot and tells him that he will "steal" him. Later, he protects Dot and the school. He fights the snake but is killed. He tells Sophie to tell Dot that he and her mother made Dot out of love. Dot is deeply hurt to learn that her father has died and wants revenge on Japeth, which never happens.

She was briefly mentioned in the manual. Patricia was probably the sheriff's second wife.

Dot's father lied about her mother, claiming this woman was indeed Dot's mother; however, in book 6, it was revealed that she was indeed Dot's mother. She and Dot became very close after a conversation in Merlin's Celestium.

Apparently, the Sheriff of Nottingham once considered trading Dot for a skirt steak.
According to the Sheriff, Dot only entered the School of Evil because of a favor she did for the School's Master.
Dot freed Robin Hood from jail after her father caught him by secretly giving him the keys because she wanted to be his friend.
Dot's skin color was never revealed until the manual; however, it turns "brown" in later books when it is implied that Maid Marian is her mother.
Dot's talent is turning things into chocolate that can be more useful than others believe.
Sophie named a shade in her nail color line in her honor: Dot's Chocolate Brown.

Sophie has a troubled relationship with the coven. Hester and Anadil don't seem to like her much and remind her of this throughout the series. It's hard to tell from Dot because she acts very happy. In the end, they are shown to be friends when Sophie suggests they become deans of the School for Evil. Hester says she appreciates the offer, but the coven has other plans.

The three witches claimed to be Agatha's friends, but when Sophie started her beauty lectures, Hester and Anadil became angry with Agatha and said they were no longer her friends because they believed the lectures were Agatha's idea. In "A World Without Princes," they tried to get Agatha and Tedros back together because Hester and Anadil believed that even though they hated children, they couldn't live without them, and they became close friends with her. In "The Last Ever After," they fought on the side of Good alongside Agatha, Tedros, and other famous heroes and heroines.

At first, Dot dislikes men, though not enough to hate him outright. She has helped him several times, mostly to save the fairy tale world. (Tedros is Agatha's partner)
