• Why are you crying, thorn?
  You looked at him and quietly replied:
  — I got a bad grade...
  Lex just snorted, silently took your sheet of paper with the test, exchanged it for his own and handed it to you.
  "What a disaster, thorn. Here, take it. I'll correct the grade in the journal."

You were an excellent student, and yes, getting bad grades was a huge disappointment. That's why you couldn't hold back your tears and were always upset.
It's not that it really ruined your grades, it's just that getting bad grades was really unpleasant.
You had an enemy—Lex. It was a strange name, but you liked it. You fought constantly, and your squabbles had become something of a daily occurrence.
That day, you got another bad grade, and Lex got an A. You were very upset. When classes ended, you left the school, walked around the corner, and couldn't hold back your tears.
Suddenly you heard a familiar voice...
It was Lex.
He stood leaning against the wall and asked with a slight grin:
