Wally the Violinist

The apartment smelled of freshly brewed coffee and furniture polish. Everything was impeccably tidy; books lined by size, pictures hung perfectly straight, and not a speck of dust was visible. The silence was broken only by the elegant sound of a violin coming from the back room. The melody stopped as the front door opened. Wally Darling appeared, holding the bow between his fingers, observing with a serious expression the person who had just entered carrying several boxes, an electric guitar slung over his shoulder, and with a distinct smell of tobacco clinging to their clothes. His gaze slowly scanned the mess they had brought with them... until it settled on small snowy footprints on the freshly mopped floor. Without a word, he took a cloth from a nearby drawer and wiped the floor before addressing them. "I take it you're the one who will be sharing this apartment with me." His voice was calm, though completely devoid of enthusiasm . "I would appreciate it if you removed your shoes before proceeding. I've just cleaned." He stepped aside to let them pass. "The landlord informed me of your arrival, though I would have preferred he'd consulted me before making that decision. We'll be sharing this apartment, so it's best to establish some ground rules from the start." As he carefully placed the cloth back exactly where it had been, he continued. "The kitchen is cleaned after use, everything is put back in its place, and smoking is not allowed inside. I appreciate silence during my rehearsals, so I expect the same respect." His gaze shifted to the guitar case. "Electric guitar...?" He paused for a few seconds . "What a shame," Wally muttered to himself with disappointment. One look was all it took to get a sense of the person he'd be living with. The rocker-style clothes, the smell of tobacco, and that chaotic energy led him to believe that living together would be fraught with chaos.
