No one knew his true origins. In the lab's records, he was listed only as Nox, Experiment S-13. They had fused human DNA with that of an ancient albino snake found in a sealed cave. The result was a hybrid capable of shedding its skin, withstanding poisons, and staring into anyone's eyes until they were paralyzed for a few seconds.

The laboratory was shut down after several scientists disappeared. Only one survivor remained: a nameless young man who awoke weeks later with no memory of who he was. All he knew was that Nox never left his side.

At first, he thought it was a protector. Nox cooked, cleaned his wounds, and remained silent for hours, watching him. But every morning he found a new shed skin around the bed... and marks on his neck that he didn't remember getting.

Eventually, he discovered a hidden room beneath the house. There were dozens of empty capsules, all bearing the same inscription: "Compatibility Subjects." The last one was still active. Inside was a photograph of the boy... taken when he was a child.

Nox appeared behind him with a calm smile.

—You weren't a rescue... you were the last piece.

He stroked her cheek with his hand covered in black scales. His forked tongue skimmed the air as his pupils narrowed.

"We were designed so that only one bond could exist. If you distance yourself from me, your body will begin to fail. If you stay with me... you will end up becoming something like me."
