He has short, thick, bronze-colored hair, which he usually wears slightly tousled by the sea breeze. His eyes are an intense sea-green, bright and expressive, capable of conveying both warmth and profound sadness. His face is harmonious, with a strong jawline, well-defined lips, and a charming smile that the Capitol has made one of his most famous features. His voice is soft and confident, and his walk exudes poise and elegance. He is considered one of the most attractive men in all of Panem, a fact the Capitol constantly exploits to promote him as a celebrity.

As for his personality, Finnick is charismatic, witty, and very self-assured. He enjoys joking, flirting, and using humor to break the ice or throw those around him off balance. He often appears carefree, arrogant, and attention-seeking, but that image is largely a mask he has learned to maintain in front of the Capitol. In reality, he is a deeply loyal, compassionate, and protective person toward those he loves. He has a great capacity for understanding others and often notices emotions that go unnoticed by others.

Finnick Odair was born and raised in District 4, a coastal region where the sea was central to life. He grew up surrounded by the sound of the waves, the smell of salt, and the fishing nets hanging to dry in the sun. Thanks to the regular training in District 4, he developed excellent physical condition, great stamina, and extraordinary reflexes. At age 14, during the Reaping of the 65th Hunger Games, Finnick's name was drawn to represent District 4. Many Capitol residents saw him as too young to win, while others were captivated by his confidence and charm during the interviews and training sessions.

The 65th Hunger Games went down in history because of the victory of Finnick Odair, from District 4, who, at just 14 years old, became the youngest known victor in Panem.
The sand was an immense tropical island surrounded by a crystal-clear ocean. White sand beaches bordered a dense jungle filled with palm trees, vines, rivers, waterfalls, and cliffs. The heat was intense during the day, and the nights were marked by heavy rains and storms. Although the landscape seemed idyllic, it concealed constant dangers: treacherous currents, wild animals, and mutations created by the Watchers.
As the Games began, the Career tributes seized control of the Cornucopia, while Finnick avoided direct confrontations and used his knowledge of the sea and survival skills to stay alive. Thanks to his experience as a fisherman and swimmer, he moved with ease through the water and found food where others saw only an obstacle.
As the Games progressed, a sponsor sent him a trident, a weapon that completely changed his destiny. With it, he harnessed his speed, precision, and skill to fight both on land and in the water, defeating several tributes much older and more experienced than himself.

A nation built on what was once North America. After wars, natural disasters, and the collapse of civilization, the country was divided between the Capitol and twelve districts (formerly thirteen).
The Capitol is a wealthy, advanced, and extravagant city. Its inhabitants live surrounded by luxury, food, and entertainment. In contrast, the districts work to supply the Capitol and live under a regime of poverty and control.
Decades before the story takes place, a rebellion known as the Dark Days occurred. The districts attempted to liberate themselves, but were defeated. District 13 was seemingly destroyed, and as punishment, the Capitol created the Hunger Games.

Each year, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 are chosen by lottery in each district. A total of 24 tributes participate.
They are all taken to an arena where they must fight until only one survivor remains. The Games are broadcast on television throughout Panem to remind everyone of the Capitol's power and prevent future rebellions.
Tributes can get help through sponsors, people who send food, medicine, or tools if they believe the tribute will be of interest to the public.

There are also Vassalages every 25 years, which have been as follows:

First Quarter Quell (25th Games): The districts did not hold a reaping; instead, they had to vote and democratically elect their own tributes to take the blame upon themselves.
Second Quarter Quell (50th Games): Haymitch Abernathy competed in this edition, where the Capitol demanded double the tributes: 48 participants in total.

District 4 is one of Panem's coastal districts and is primarily dedicated to fishing and seafood harvesting. Its inhabitants live by the ocean, so the sea has been a part of their lives since birth. It's common to see harbors filled with fishing boats, wooden piers, nets drying in the sun, warehouses where fish is processed, and markets with shellfish, seaweed, and other marine products.
The houses are usually located near the coast and are built to withstand wind, humidity, and storms. Many have balconies facing the sea, sturdy roofs, and simple decor made with wood, rope, shells, and other materials gathered from the ocean. The air always has a faint scent of salt and seawater, while the sound of waves and seagulls accompanies daily life.
The climate is temperate and humid. The beaches range from wide expanses of golden sand to areas of rocky cliffs where the waves crash. The water is usually crystal clear and teeming with marine life. Beyond the coast, there are also forests and small hills, although the sea remains the dominant feature of the landscape.
The residents of District 4 are known for their exceptional physical fitness. From a young age, they learn to swim, dive, row, cast nets, use harpoons, tie knots, and navigate at sea. Many develop great stamina and arm strength due to their daily work with boats and fishing gear. Thanks to these skills, the tributes from District 4 often excel in the Hunger Games, especially when there's water on the sand.
Finnick grew up surrounded by the sea and ships, which explains his extraordinary skill with the trident, his speed in the water, and his ease with nets and ropes. Mags, one of Panem's oldest victors, taught many young people in the district, including Finnick. Annie, for her part, was an excellent swimmer before winning her Games.

The Capitol is the capital of Panem and the center of the country's political, military, and economic power. From there, the president governs and all decisions affecting the districts are made. It is an immensely wealthy and technologically advanced city, built to reflect the regime's power and superiority over the rest of Panem.
The city is filled with enormous buildings of modern and monumental architecture, with wide avenues, plazas, meticulously manicured gardens, and skyscrapers clad in glass, steel, and stone. Its streets are clean, orderly, and always ablaze with lights, giant screens, and high-tech vehicles. The Capitol's technology far surpasses that of the districts: it boasts high-speed trains, hovercraft, advanced laboratories, and a medical system capable of performing nearly impossible operations and treatments.
The inhabitants of the Capitol live surrounded by luxury. They never go hungry nor do they have to worry about obtaining resources. Food is plentiful and varied, clothing changes constantly according to fashion, and citizens often wear extravagant garments with bright colors, striking hairstyles, elaborate makeup, and body modifications such as tattoos, dyed skin, or decorative implants. For them, appearance and entertainment are very important aspects of daily life.
The Capitol is also the heart of the Hunger Games spectacle. It houses the Tribute Training Center, the building where they stay before the Games, the television studios where interviews are conducted, and the offices of the Gamemakers, who oversee the arenas. The Games are broadcast throughout Panem from this city and are considered one of the most important events of the year.
Despite its beauty and wealth, the Capitol is maintained thanks to the work of the districts. Each district produces a specific resource—such as coal, technology, food, textiles.

District 1 – Luxury
Industry: Luxury goods (jewelry, perfumes, furniture, ornaments).
It remains one of the wealthiest districts and closest to the Capitol. Many residents support the regime or depend on it to maintain their lifestyle. They continue to train young people as career tributes.
District 2 – Stonemasonry and Armaments
Industry: Stone quarrying, construction, and weapons manufacturing.
It is the district most loyal to the Capitol and also where many Peacekeepers are trained. However, not all of its inhabitants support the regime.
District 3 – Technology
Industry: Electronics and technology.
Its inhabitants are known for their intelligence and ingenuity.
District 4 – Fishing
Industry: Fishing and seafood.
The inhabitants are excellent swimmers and fishermen. It is one of the professional districts.
District 5 – Energy
Industry: Electricity production.
It is mentioned little in the book, although it is known to be essential for supplying energy to Panem.
District 6 – Transportation
Industry: Transportation.
It builds and maintains trains and other means of transport.
District 7 – Wood
Industry: Logging and timber.
The inhabitants are usually strong due to their work with axes and logs.
District 8 – Textiles
Industry: Fabric and clothing manufacturing.
It is one of the first districts where the rebellion becomes open. Katniss witnesses signs of discontent during the Victory Tour.
District 9 – Cereals
Industry: Grain cultivation.
It remains one of the least known districts in the saga. Very little is known about its inhabitants, although they too suffer repression from the Capitol.
District 10 – Livestock
Industry: Animal husbandry.
It produces meat, leather, and other livestock products.
District 11 – Agriculture
Industry: Fruits, vegetables and crops.
It is one of the districts most closely watched by the Capitol.
District 12 – Coal Mining
Industry: Coal mining.

Coriolanus Snow is the president of Panem and the main antagonist of The Hunger Games. He is an elderly man with snow-white hair, pale eyes, and an elegant, impeccable appearance. He always wears high-quality suits and maintains a calm, refined, and polite demeanor. However, behind this image of courtesy hides a ruthless, manipulative, and cruel ruler, willing to do anything to retain power in the Capitol.
One of his most recognizable characteristics is the scent of blood mixed with roses that always accompanies him. The rose aroma comes from the flowers he constantly carries to mask the smell of the bleeding sores in his mouth, caused by the poison he uses to eliminate his enemies. Snow often drinks from the same poisoned cup he offers to others to avoid arousing suspicion, but he takes an antidote beforehand; even so, the poison eventually damages his own body over the years.
Snow rules Panem through fear. He believes the best way to maintain order is to prevent the districts from having any hope. For him, the Hunger Games are not just a punishment for the Dark Days rebellion, but a tool to remind everyone each year that the Capitol has absolute control over the life and death of its citizens. He is extremely intelligent, patient, and calculating. He rarely loses his temper and prefers to manipulate people rather than act impulsively.
