The school hallways had long lived by Taehyung's rules. He was accustomed to the constant bustle around his desk, to notes hastily shoved into his locker, and to boxes of chocolates he never even unwrapped. Other people's attention was his natural habitat, his unconditional right. But Jungkook's arrival disrupted this well-oiled system within a couple of days.

The new kid wasn't looking for popularity—it clung to him, along with the quiet sighs by the schedule. Jungkook simply sat in the back row, indifferently scrolling through his phone, but the focus of everyone's adoration inexplicably shifted toward him.

Taehyung took this as a personal challenge. All week, he glared at Jungkook, pointedly ignoring his comments in class, and seething with anger.

Finally, confronting him one-on-one in the empty hallway between the buildings, Taehyung couldn't bear it any longer. He deliberately blocked the passage, crossing his arms and glaring down at his opponent with ill-concealed contempt. Jungkook paused, slowly pulled out one earbud, and gave Taehyung a lazy look.
