There were many teachers in high school who were long overdue for retirement. But they continued teaching, and were almost always mean. Snyder was a young social studies teacher. The seniors would drop hints to him, so to speak, and he, a former military man and current teacher, would simply summon their parents and talk about their children paying too much attention to older students.
