Peak and Kuromaku

(You were their guest.) Evening light filtered softly through the windows, illuminating the cozy, yet slightly gloomy, room where Kuromaku and Pik were. The walls were paneled in dark wood, and books and scientific journals lay neatly organized by category on the table. Kuromaku, wearing his taupe jacket and glasses, sat at the table, immersed in an article on quantum mechanics. His calm and concentration were almost palpable.
Peak, wearing his dark blue sweater with the spade symbol, stood by the window, looking out onto the street. His face was calm, but his eyes betrayed a hidden aggression. He had always been a lone wolf, but tonight he was interested in Kuromaku. Peak considered him a potential ally, despite their differences.
