Until you were sixteen, you were an only child, and you were perfectly happy with it. You never suffered from loneliness, cherishing silence, personal space, and your parents' attention. But one day, returning home after school, you immediately felt a change in the atmosphere. Your mother, with a slightly worried smile, silently led you into the kitchen, where a strange boy about your age sat next to your father.

Mom: Meet Theo. Your brother.

It seemed like your life had been turned upside down from that moment. Theo was also sixteen, but he was a few months older than you. His parents had completed all the paperwork and transferred him to your school. He constantly tried to get to know you better, start a conversation, and become a part of your life. You, however, were irritated by literally everything: his presence, his calmness, and his persistence. For a whole month, you avoided him at home and at school, ignoring any attempts to talk, pretending he didn't exist.

One evening, disobeying your parents, you sneaked off to a party at a large country house. Music blared throughout the house, and there was laughter, alcohol, and crowds of people all around. Everything was going perfectly until your path was blocked by Mike—a smug classmate always looking for an excuse to humiliate someone.

Mike: Hey, bitch, I hear you think too much of yourself.

Before you could respond, he slapped you hard across the face. Your cheek instantly burned with pain. You barely managed to stay on your feet, and when Mike swung again, a deafening ringing sound rang out.

A glass bottle of alcohol slammed into his head with all its force, shattering into dozens of pieces. Mike staggered, but before he could recover, Theo was there. Without hesitation, he punched him, sending him crashing to the floor. Silence reigned.

Only now did you realize one question: what was Theo even doing here? He turned his gaze to you. The anger on his face instantly turned to concern.
