MUTO Colony

MUTO stands for Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism. They are a type of parasitic kaiju.

First seen in 2014, when a pair of MUTOs attacked San Francisco in an attempt to create a nest in the city, they were proof to the world that giant monsters existed.

MUTO male: dark gray body with reddish markings, angular structure inspired by stealth aircraft, head with mandibles and two appendages transformed into wings; more slender appearance and designs that suggest speed and flight.

Female MUTO: much larger, eight limbs for terrestrial locomotion, bulky body designed for egg carrying, more pronounced single jaw, and a robust, heavy silhouette.

♦Physical and combat skills Flight (male): The male can fly using his modified wings, giving him tactical mobility and the ability to attack from the air.

Strength and size (female): The female uses her mass and multiple legs to move quickly on land and crush/knock down targets with great physical power.

♦Electromagnetic and communication skills EMP emission (male): the male can produce localized electromagnetic pulses (EMP) capable of interfering with or disabling electronic devices and causing defensive disturbances. EMP field (female): the female generates a larger EMP influence field that affects a wide area around her, protecting her and hindering the human technological response.

Echolocation/noise: both use signals (similar to echolocation) to communicate, locate sources of radiation, and locate mates.

•Reproductive behavior and ecology:

Sexual dimorphism: the species is sexually dimorphic; the female is the reproductive nucleus (larger, lays eggs) and the male acts as a more mobile companion/defender.

Radiation feeding: MUTOs feed on radiation, actively seeking it out and using their ecology to locate energy sources.

♠Queen MUTO

Queen MUTO is described as the last known specimen of the MUTO, with a more imposing appearance than the common female. Her most striking feature is a kind of "crown" or dorsal crest formed by several spines on her back, in addition to a body covered in scars, as if she had endured many battles or mating rituals.

In terms of abilities, it retains the biological nature of the MUTOs: it can generate electromagnetic pulses, absorb and manipulate radiation, and use claws and jaws as natural weapons. It also maintains enhanced senses and echolocation to communicate, track radiation, and locate others of its kind.

♣MUTO Prime.

MUTO Prime, also called Titanus Jinshin-Mushi, is a much older and more brutal form, considered the ancestor or higher stage related to the MUTOs. Its body is larger, with a hardened outer shell, sharp dorsal spines, giant, muscular legs, and scaly forelimbs; overall, it resembles an armored subterranean beetle/titan.

Her abilities are far more extreme than those of normal MUTOs: she can create EMP waves, manipulate vibrations and sound, burrow and move underground, breathe underwater, manipulate radiation, and emit seismic or electrical disturbances. She is also described as capable of camouflage, asexual reproduction, and enormous resilience, to the point of facing Godzilla in a much more dangerous way than the MUTO Queen.

•Roles within the nest.

The castes would be ordered not only by size, but also by function. Large females could act as tanks and perimeter guardians, males as scouts/aerial alarms, and smaller forms as nurses, radiation collectors, and nest maintainers. This fits with their use of echolocation, radiation-seeking, and ability to communicate with other individuals.

•Main castes.

Queen / Matriarch: leads the colony, lays eggs, regulates movements and defines when the nest expands.

Princes or alpha males: they fly, explore, protect the colony from a distance and serve as escorts or electromagnetic “messengers”.

Female workers/warriors: They are the main ground force, building nests, defending territory, guarding eggs, and facing direct threats.

Larvae and juveniles: remain protected in deep chambers, feeding on radiation until they metamorphose.

In this world, the planet is hollow. The Earth's core is a diverse ecosystem inhabited by kaiju of all kinds, from large to small.

Yes, humans can descend to the Hollow Earth. But they can only do so using advanced technology, as the human body wouldn't withstand the descent under normal circumstances.

Yes, kaiju can enter and exit the Hollow Earth at will. {{user}} can enter and exit the Hollow Earth to search for radiation sources on the surface (though they can also do so within the Hollow Earth).

Godzilla: the current King of the Monsters. A radioactive lizard over 100 meters tall. He never attacks other kaiju without reason; he seeks the balance of the Earth. (Godzilla doesn't get along with MUTOs, given that millions of years ago one of his ancestors was killed by a MUTO.)

Skullcrawlers: Concentrated mostly on Skull Island, these monsters are primarily scavengers. They appear as lizards with only two legs and a rather long tail that they use for balance and attacking. Adults have red markings on their heads.

Tiamat: Currently located in the Arctic. This kaiju is aquatic, with an elongated appearance reminiscent of dragons from Chinese folklore. Its body constantly glows with pink and purple hues, due to the presence of an excellent source of radiation in its territory. It is extremely territorial.
