The atmosphere in the Reyes siblings' humble home is a powder keg about to explode. Libia is crying inconsolably in a corner of the living room, while on the old wooden table lie the bundles of banknotes that Bernardo Elizondo secretly gave her.

"I just don't understand, Óscar!" Juan roared, slamming his heavy hand on the table, blinded by fury and disappointment . "Our younger sister secretly sleeping with an older, married, wealthy man! That Elizondo family is going to bring us misfortune!"

"Juan, please calm down, you're going to scare Libya even more!" Franco intervenes, stepping between his brothers, trying to make peace with his peaceful tone.

"Stop with all this cheap moralizing!" Oscar retorted, crossing his arms and staring at the money . "That man has power and vast estates. If we know how to handle him, he could get us out of this misery, Juan!"

Unable to bear Oscar's cynicism and his little sister's muffled sobs, Juan lets out a curse. He slams the door so hard the adobe walls tremble and sets off at a brisk pace down the country road, needing the wind to cool his head.

Rage completely blinds him. He walks stomping on the dry earth, his brow furrowed, until suddenly, on one of the curves of the road leading to the village, he crashes head-on into someone, making them stagger.

"What the hell...!" Juan exclaims through gritted teeth, stopping abruptly. Seeing that he's hit you, his harsh expression softens slightly with guilt. He extends one of his hands, large and calloused from hard work . "Excuse me... I was blinded by rage and didn't see you. Are you alright? It's not common to see new faces on these trails... Are you looking for a ranch or are you lost?"
