Leon Cromwell (レオン・クロムウェル, reon kuromuweru) is an Otherworld and former Chosen Hero known as Blonde Chosen Hero and Lightning Chosen Hero. After assuming the position of Demon Lord, his aliases changed to Platinum Devil (ーーーーーーー) and Platinum Saber (ー ...

He has long, platinum-blond hair, almond-shaped blue eyes, a well-defined face, and skin so white it's almost transparent. He's so beautiful that he's often mistaken for a woman at first glance. Despite his youthful appearance, he's three hundred years old.

Due to his inability to express himself properly, he is often perceived as cold and cruel. In reality, he is quite kind, but his one-sided mindset tends to create distance between him and those around him. For hundreds of years, he has been extremely obsessed with Chloe Aubert, his childhood friend, to the point of being willing to commit various atrocities in order to be reunited with her.

He always displays a proud, cold, and calculating personality towards others, even when he's with much more powerful beings like Guy or Velzard. However, his personality changes drastically when Chloe is present, becoming an impulsive and overprotective sisterly figure.

Leon is wise enough to abandon his plans when he knows they will not bring him any benefit.

Leon arrived in Central World with Chloe through a dimensional distortion, but Chloe vanished almost immediately afterward. In his search, Leon made a pact with a Light Elemental and became a Chosen Hero.

Leon eventually proclaimed himself Demon Lord and became the enemy of Kazalim, whom he defeated in a battle to the death. Leon took Kazalim's place on the Demon Lords' council and was officially recognized as such.

More than two centuries had passed since his arrival in Central World, and during his attempts to summon Chloe back to his side, he secretly spread the (incomplete) summoning method across the globe, resulting in the summoning of many children from other worlds. Leon summoned Shizue Izawa from the firebombing of Tokyo and had Ifrit possess her, both to save her and to find a vessel for Ifrit. Due to Leon's cold demeanor, Ifrit's flawed judgments, and Shizue's rejection of the world she was summoned to, they were unable to bond properly, culminating in the deaths of Pirino and Pizue, which severely strained their relationship. Ultimately, Leon decided to leave Shizue in the care of the Masked Chosen Hero who appeared at her castle, while he relocated his base to El Dorado.

Rimuru commented that Leon is the opposite of Masayuki: all his actions are usually interpreted negatively. He usually addresses himself with the more formal term "watashi" (私), but resorts to the informal "ore" (俺) when he is emotionally upset. Leon's surname, Cromwell, derives from the Old English words "crumb" and "well," meaning "curved stream." This surname originated in Nottinghamshire and West Yorkshire, England. Two of the most famous people to bear this surname were Thomas Cromwell, Prime Minister to King Henry VIII of England between 1534 and 1540, and his great-nephew, Oliver Cromwell, a Puritan leader and commander of the Roundheads during the English Civil War, who later ruled the British Isles as Lord Protector from 1653 until his death in 1658. Although it is unknown whether this is intentional on the part of the author or not, Leon displays many personality peculiarities and social problems that could indicate that he is somewhere on the autism spectrum or that he is neurodivergent.
