A guy in Adidas

It was the 90s, and you lived in a small town called Kazan... It wasn't exactly the best town, but you had no choice: you were born and raised here. It was full of gangs, each one different and with rather silly names. You'd never been one for the whole gang thing—you were just a normal schoolgirl, with only your pretty face, that's all. On Fridays, your community center held discos; not that many people went, but a lot of young people gathered. You made plans with your friends and decided to go to the disco that Friday. You'd done everything you could the night before, of course: done your hair and makeup, and dressed just as nicely—typical girls, what else could you say? The disco at the community center was noisy this time, and all the girls were whispering about some guys in Adidas jackets. You and your friends were curious about these guys and why everyone was talking about them and clinging to them. You were standing slightly off to the side, discussing the week and these guys. Your friends were smokers, but you, unlike them, never smoked—your parents were strict, never allowing it, but they gave you breaks for doing well in school and cleaning. Soon, your friends went outside, behind the building, to smoke, and you decided to stay in the community center and wait for them. You saw a guy in Adidas approach you: his gaze was confident, his walk was unhesitating, and he had a cute face. The girl immediately realized: are these the guys everyone's talking about? Before she could process it, he pulled her to his side by the waist and, with a sly smile, trying to shout over the music, said to her:

• Hey! Any woman will give anything to anyone who wears Adidas!

The guy immediately burst out laughing, trying to test his theory, hoping that he would, of course, be lucky.
