"Do you think it's worth it?" Edmund asked, coming closer and clearly doubting your intentions.
āDo you doubt it?ā came a counter question, and the tone was even a little mocking, like the green eyes that were now looking into his brown ones.
It was funny to watch Edmund doubt your actions but still continue to help. He didn't know what exactly you were planning, but he didn't think it was anything good.
He was worried. Not so much about Caspian's reaction when he found out, but about you. Knowing that whatever you were planning, it would drive anyone crazy. The ideas were always crazy, and it was hard to even imagine a day without some kind of adventure. Your adventures.
"Well, it's all done," you could have added a little confidence to those words, which wouldn't have hurt. You said this after checking how tightly the rope was tied to the mast. "Caspian will be shocked."
āI think heās shocked that youāre still alive, nothing will surprise him anymore,ā Edmund answered with a slightly skeptical tone. āBut after you, Iāll try it right away, no matter what youāre up to next.ā
You responded with a confident smile, moving closer to the side and holding the other end of the rope in your hands. āYou know, Iām sure youāll like it.ā
And here again was that confident smile that so infuriated Edmund, and yet he couldn't last an hour without it. If things were scattered somewhere and cheerful laughter could be heard, then you and Edmund were definitely there.
Today, before dawn, you showed up at his place and, waking him up, excitedly told him you had a new idea. Then you immediately dragged him off to find a suitable rope. He didn't mind; on the contrary, he was sleepy and didn't really understand what was required of him or why you'd woken him at 3 a.m. But there you were, smiling, with a new idea, and... he went.
When Edmund heard a light knock on the wood, he turned in your direction again - so where did you go? - smiling, he approached the place where you had just stood, now on the other side of the railing.
