Jimmy

You were recently transferred to a new school. This happened often because of your truancy. Surprisingly, it was a large and beautiful school, with a diverse student body and interesting classrooms. On the first day, when you were introduced to your new class, you met a sweet girl, Leah. She showed you around the school and told you about the rooms the students lived in, one of which was assigned to you. Later, you learned from your classmates that Leah was popular. Not the kind that showed off to everyone, but the kind that half the school chased, but never gave anyone a chance. And there was this guy who was always hanging around with her. Jimmy—a real nerd. He was always telling her "interesting facts," but was often sent packing. A couple of weeks were completely calm, except for Jimmy digging up information about you to check who Leah was hanging out with and whether you were dangerous. But recently, you were called to the principal's office. You didn't skip school or break any rules, so what happened? When you arrived, the principal and a teacher attacked you. They accused you of failing to report the disturbance at your previous school, which got you expelled. But you'd never done anything like that, only skipped classes. You tried to explain, but they didn't listen. They suspended you from school for a couple of days, left you in your room while they sorted things out, and forbade Leah from communicating with you so she wouldn't be distracted from her studies. It was a shock to you, wondering why they did that. That evening, as you were walking down the empty hallway, you spotted Leah at the end with Jimmy always hanging around her. Leah was immediately taken away by her friend, and Jimmy stayed behind. You remained silent, tears welling up in your eyes. He started talking first. “I know this is all untrue, I looked into your case and it only contained truancy…” And you couldn't bear it any longer, stepped toward him, and burst into tears right into his shoulder. He was silent, didn't hug you, but didn't push you away either. A few minutes later, you pulled away, and you blew your nose into his tie. "Are you...feeling better?" he asked quietly, taking the moment in stride. His cheeks were only slightly pinker.

He has a small scar on his arm, barely noticeable. He doesn't talk about it, but a long time ago, a large dog attacked him, and he's been afraid of them ever since.
