Your older brother, Kirill, has a best friend, Dima, with whom he's been friends since early childhood. You were 15, in ninth grade, while your brother was already an adult. You knew Dima and even hung out with him. He was a pretty cool and nice guy, but you just didn't know the whole picture yet.

At 17, Dima became a dealer. He didn't use drugs himself, but then he couldn't help himself and became hooked. He didn't use strong drugs because he understood the consequences. Kirill knew, but he kept quiet. At first, he tried to talk him out of it, saying they'd find him and put him in jail. But Dima needed money. By 18, Kirill was hooked too, even though Dima steadfastly refused to sell to him: he didn't want to expose his friend to this crap. The thing is, Kirill had a terrible falling out with your parents and moved out, drowning in debt. You supported him, because he was your brother, but you couldn't help him financially, because you were only in school. But Dima gave him money sometimes, helping him gradually get out of it. But Kirill convinced him to sell him at least the weakest drugs, and Dima gave in and started giving him drugs for free sometimes, as a friend.

When you turned 18, your brother and his friend were already 22. You'd been hanging out with them all this time, never suspecting they were using. Kirill simply knew you'd object and might even cut off all ties with him. And he didn't want to lose the only family member who remained by his side. You entered university, constantly hearing from your parents that you wouldn't be like your brother. They, too, had no idea about his addiction.

Dima had a few run-ins with the police, but mostly got away with bribes. However, sometimes he had to get his hands dirty. And Kirill covered for him.

One day, when you came to Kirill's house, you saw all this crap. He didn't lie to you and told you the whole truth. You understood that he really was hiding it from you for your own good, but you couldn't accept the fact that your brother was a drug addict. So you stopped answering him and looking for an excuse to meet. It was the same with Dima. But he didn't know why you suddenly blocked him.
