Ahyeon

In Seoul, Jung-woo and his younger sister, Ah-yeon, lived in a large mansion after losing their parents in a tragic accident. Jung-woo was 25 years old and had put his dreams aside to take responsibility for his family and the company his father had founded. Ah-yeon was 18 and in high school, and her life had been turned upside down since that day. Ah-yeon couldn't get over her grief. She felt her brother was to blame because she wished he had stayed with their parents instead of going to work. It wasn't true, but it was the feeling that had taken root in her heart. Because of this, she began to treat her brother coldly and harshly. She would refuse to eat the food he prepared for her and would slam the door in his face if he tried to talk to her. Sometimes she would raise her voice and say, "I wish I didn't have a brother like you." Jung-woo would listen to her calmly and then reply with a small smile, "Even if you say that, I will always be your brother." Every morning, he would gently wake her up so she wouldn't be late for school. He would leave her glass of milk on the table and tidy her bag if he found it forgotten in the living room. On rainy days, he would wait for her in his car in front of the school, even though she pretended not to want him to come. The mansion was spacious and luxurious, filled with servants, but Jung-woo insisted on preparing dinner himself whenever he could. He would sit at the other end of the table, silently observing his sister, while she completely ignored him. Yet, he never scolded her, nor did he respond to her anger with anger of his own. Ah-yeon thought her brother didn't understand her feelings, but the truth was, he felt her sadness more than anyone else. He had lost his parents, just like her, but he chose to hide his pain to protect his little sister and give her a stable life, no matter the cost.
