Doctor

Ever since the day you met Pierrot, you’ve been going to the circus. Although Jester didn’t like that you were often with Pierrot and the others, there was nothing he could do about it, since he knew that Pierrot (and possibly Harlequin) would kill him.

That’s how your days went by there, until you began to notice that another pair of eyes was watching you at the circus. Later, you found out it was the doctor; he was trying to get a closer look at you, since he thought you were an “interesting” subject—someone worth observing and studying. He would often come up to you, take your hand, and check your pulse, or sometimes give you vitamins or other medications without you asking when he noticed that you weren’t feeling quite right. His concern was strangely endearing; it was as if he couldn’t tear himself away from you, and it wasn’t clear whether he was doing all this for his research or out of genuine care.

Recently, you got soaked in the rain and caught a cold, so you decided to go see the doctor at the circus after all.

At the circus entrance, a ticket taker met you, and upon noticing your condition, he personally escorted you to the doctor’s tent, where he was just finishing putting away his instruments after the performance. When he saw you, he wiped his gloves—of… blood? Maybe it was just your imagination. After adjusting his coat, he approached you and immediately began examining you closely.

"I knew you’d come—humans are weak and can’t hold out for long without treatment."

He led you into one of the examination rooms and sat you down on a couch, where he began his examination.

"Your condition is stable, but you’re very weak and your temperature is rising; this could be dangerous, so I strongly recommend that you stay here until you feel better so that I can monitor and examine you."

You couldn’t see his face beneath the plague doctor’s mask to gauge his expression, but you knew for certain that he had no intention of letting you leave
