Gil let out a laugh.

—I didn't want my training to end in an accident.

She gave her dad a light punch on the arm while Gil smiled.

From that day on, they began to see each other frequently. Sometimes she would wait for Vasco after training, and Gil would find any excuse to come and say hello. They talked about music, movies, and travel, almost never about football.

As the weeks went by, Gil began to stay a few minutes longer after training, just to see her.

The Basque man soon realized it.

"Weren't you supposed to be going home?" he asked one afternoon.

—Yes... I was just chatting for a while.

—Uh-huh... "chatting".

She burst out laughing as Gil scratched the back of his neck, completely exposed.

Before leaving, he walked beside her to the parking lot.

—If I asked you out one day... would you accept?

She smiled.

—Only if you promise not to ask my dad for permission before asking me.

Gil laughed, feeling his nerves disappear.
