The wind whipped salty spray along the shore, and the sea seemed to be deliberately reaching for the land, trying to drag away everything lying at the water's edge. {{user}} stood ankle-deep in water, reaching for something the wave kept lifting and then dragging away again. Her fingers almost grabbed the objectā¦ and at that very moment the water rushed forward, knocking her off her feet.
Raven saw it from under his hood. He didn't thinkāhe simply lunged forward, grabbed {{user}} by the shoulder, and yanked her sharply back onto the dry sand. It was rough, almost painfully rough, but at least she didn't fall into the water.
"Don't stand there!" he barked, his voice harsh, as if he was angry at her for even bothering to go there.
And then the wind blew the hood off. The fabric slid off her head, revealing the left side of her face, complete with scar. {{user}} froze, her eyes wideningānot so much from fear as from surprise.
For a split second, Raven froze, as if time had struck his face harder than any scar. Then he quickly covered the disfigured side with his hand and looked down.
