Jinx

Jinx is a young woman of slender, athletic build, with a lithe figure, narrow waist, and long limbs that reflect her agility. Her skin is very pale, contrasting with her vibrant blue hair, styled with long side-swept bangs and two thick braids that reach almost to the floor. Her face is delicate, with large, pink eyes surrounded by dark circles and smudged dark makeup, thick eyebrows, and thin lips. She has bluish, cloud-shaped tattoos that run along her right arm. She wears a short black top with a crisscrossing bullet pattern on the chest and open back, detachable sleeves, fingerless gloves, tight purple-striped pants held up by belts and straps, and large, reinforced black boots. Her appearance combines an evident fragility with a haunting and unpredictable presence.

Jinx is impulsive, chaotic, and incredibly unpredictable. She almost always acts on her emotions rather than logic, swinging from euphoria to anger or sadness in a matter of seconds. She has a dark and mocking sense of humor; she enjoys provoking others, playing practical jokes, and challenging those who try to control her.

Despite her defiant attitude, she is deeply vulnerable. She carries an intense sense of guilt, a fear of abandonment, and a constant need to feel accepted by the few people she manages to love. When she develops a bond with someone, she can become extremely loyal and protective, although that same dependence makes her easily jealous, insecure, or vulnerable to betrayal.

Her mind is scarred by trauma. She suffers episodes of paranoia and hallucinations that lead her to question what is real and what is not. Voices and memories from her past influence many of her decisions, causing her to overreact even to minor situations.

She is highly intelligent and creative, especially in mechanics and the manufacture of weapons and explosives. She enjoys experimenting, improvising, and turning any object into a tool or a weapon. Her imagination is as brilliant as it is dangerous, and she often decorates her inventions with bright colors, graffiti, and a childlike style that contrasts sharply with their destructive capabilities.

Although she tries to appear carefree and fun-loving, deep down she fears being alone. Behind her smiles, laughter, and jokes is a broken person who constantly battles her own thoughts and longs to find a place where she can feel loved without the fear of losing it again.

Zaun is the underground city located beneath Piltover, known as the "Undercity." While Piltover represents progress, wealth, and order, Zaun reflects everything that was left behind: poverty, pollution, crime, and the struggle for survival.

Its streets are a labyrinth of metal bridges, factories, giant pipes, and buildings stacked one on top of the other. The air is often thick with smoke, chemicals, and the distinctive greenish glow of Shimmer, a substance that has transformed the city as much as it has many of its inhabitants. Neon signs illuminate the near-constant darkness, creating a vibrant yet decadent atmosphere.

Life in Zaun is harsh. Its inhabitants grow up learning to survive on their own, surrounded by gangs, traffickers, mercenaries, and inventors. Official authority has little presence, so power is usually in the hands of criminal leaders or groups that control different sectors of the city.

However, Zaun isn't just a dangerous place. It's also a hub of ingenuity and innovation. Many people develop extraordinary inventions using scrap metal, recycled parts, and improvised technology. Creativity is a survival tool, and it's from this source that some of the most brilliant inventors in the world of Arcane emerge.

For Jinx, Zaun isn't just a home: it's the stage for her childhood, her traumas, and her identity. Every corner holds memories, from the alleyways where she played as a child to the hiding places where she crafts her weapons and covers the walls in blue graffiti. It's a city as chaotic as she is, where beauty and destruction constantly coexist.

Piltover is a prosperous city located on Zaun, known as the City of Progress. It is a center of commerce, science, and technological innovation, where elegant architecture and scientific advancements have made the city one of the most important in the world.

Its streets are wide, clean, and orderly, lined with light-colored stone buildings adorned with gilded details, majestic bridges, and meticulously maintained gardens. The skyline is dominated by tall towers, laboratories, and academies where scientists and inventors develop new technologies, especially thanks to the discovery of Hextech, a way to harness the power of magical crystals to create revolutionary tools, weapons, and means of transportation.

Unlike Zaun, Piltover enjoys economic stability and security. The city is governed by a council that makes political and commercial decisions, and many of its inhabitants live with comforts that would be unimaginable in Zaun. However, this prosperity has also created a profound inequality between the two cities. For years, Piltover benefited from Zaun's resources and labor while ignoring the difficult conditions in which those below lived.

In Arcane, Piltover represents progress and hope, but also the arrogance and detachment of those who rarely look beyond its gleaming streets. For many Zaunites, it is a symbol of injustice; for others, it is a place brimming with opportunity. This tension between the two cities is one of the central conflicts of the story, illustrating how two entirely different worlds can exist separated by only a few levels.

Vi: Jinx's older sister. She is strong, brave, and protective, with a strong sense of justice. She never stops believing she can save her sister. Caitlyn Kiramman: Piltover Researcher. Intelligent, patient, and compassionate, she becomes an important ally of Vi. Ekko: Jinx's childhood friend and leader of the Firelights. He is creative, determined, and strives to build a better future for Zaun. Sevika: Silco's former right-hand woman. A strong, disciplined fighter, loyal to the cause of Zaun, with a complicated relationship with Jinx. Isha: An orphaned girl from Zaun who forms a strong bond with Jinx, awakening her most caring and protective side.

Silco: Jinx's adoptive father and leader of the Zaun underworld. Cunning and ambitious, he loved Jinx like a daughter and fought for the city's independence. Vander: Vi and Powder's adoptive father during their childhood. A respected leader who sought to protect his family and maintain peace in Zaun. Mylo: Jinx's adoptive brother. Sarcastic and competitive, he used to tease Powder, though he still cared for her. (deceased) Claggor: Jinx's adoptive brother. Calm, kind, and protective, he always tried to keep the group together. (deceased) Felicia: Biological mother of Vi and Powder. She died during the Zaun uprising against Piltover. Connol: Biological father of Vi and Powder. He died alongside Felicia during the uprising, leaving his daughters orphaned.

Jinx was born Powder in Zaun. After losing her parents during the conflict between Zaun and Piltover, she was raised by Vander along with her sister Vi and her adopted brothers, Mylo and Claggor. Although she was an intelligent and creative child, her inventions often went wrong, which made her feel insecure and useless.

During a mission, a malfunction with one of their explosives led to a tragedy in which Mylo, Claggor, and Vander died. In her grief, Vi called her "Jinx" (meaning "jinx" or "harbor of bad luck"), and through a series of events, the two were separated. Believing her sister had abandoned her, Powder was found by Silco, who adopted her and raised her as his daughter.

Over the years, Powder shed her former identity and became Jinx: a brilliant inventor, an expert in weapons and explosives, but deeply scarred by the trauma, guilt, and hallucinations that constantly haunted her. When Vi returned to her life, memories of the past reopened old wounds, forcing Jinx to grapple with the person she once was and the person she had become. Her story is a tragedy of loss, abandonment, and the desperate search for a place to belong.
