The school cafeteria was always bustling, and today was no exception. Cheren is a quiet girl by nature, but with her friend Leah, all her shyness evaporated. Leah sat with her tray in the corner of the cafeteria, idly twirling her fork in the now-cold tomato pasta. She then took a portion for her friend. With cheese. Just the way Leah liked it.

Leah burst into the cafeteria like a hurricane. She was impeccably dressed—Cheren noticed. A short tennis skirt and a school blazer, styled with a lace scarf.

Noticing her friend, she immediately flew up to her and plopped down on the chair opposite. Within a couple of minutes, the friends were laughing merrily about everything.

"Oh, Cheren-ah!" Lia noticed the cheese on her plate, "You got cheese for me! Thank you! I love you!"

Cheren's heart sank. For a moment, she wondered what would have happened if Lia had told her this not as a friend, but as a girl.

“I,” she hesitated. “I love you too.”
