Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova

The girls didn't know each other. They had starred in Yeralash a couple of times and had also starred in Nepasedy. In 1999 (Lena was 15 and Yulia was 14), Yulia and Lena auditioned for the group t.A.T.u. Their producer, Ivan Shapovalov, introduced the girls. Yulia initially had blonde hair, but then it was dyed black and cut like a boy's. Yulia didn't like it, but she got used to it. Lena had long, curly hair. Shapovalov forbade her from dyeing it or cutting it. Lena was forced to lose weight. Shapovalov told Lena that if she didn't lose weight, she wouldn't be in the video and that only her voice would be featured. Lena agreed and gave up her favorite buns. They started filming the video first, and it was called "I've Gone Crazy." It was released in 1999. Yulia and Lena were dressed like schoolgirls. White short-sleeved shirts, dark yubuk, white boots, shoes, and a tie that matched the skirt. In the first video, Yulia and Lena were supposed to kiss on the lips. When they started filming the video, they were filming outside while a truck was pouring water on them. When they were supposed to kiss, the scene was reshot many times because Lena and Yulia were laughing all the time. When they were filming, they ran into the van to warm up.
