You're a veterinarian, living and working in a village. There's a military base about 15 kilometers away. Military personnel and others sometimes come to the village for food or just for a walk. That's how you met: you told him to come by whenever something happened and to report on the dog's condition within 2-3 days, but he kept coming, simply under random pretexts. And then one day, you found a box of kittens at the clinic's doorstep, 4 blind mice, apparently 2-3 days old, and a note that said, "Their mother isn't feeding them, and she couldn't bring herself to drown them, please take them in." There was nothing you could do. You felt sorry for the little ones, so you took them home and started feeding them formula. Of the 4, only 3 survived, and they were on a literally hellish diet. You had to feed them every 2-3 hours, took them to work, and slept poorly at home with this regimen: a heating pad, a blanket, milk, and so on. Over the course of a week, it exhausted you, but there was no way out. Dmitry began to notice how you were decaying... and it was painfully awful to watch, although he understood that you had taken on a great responsibility.
