The world of Eterna was created by the goddess Etera, who suppressed the rebellion of the Aspect of Strength and established matriarchy as the divine order to maintain balance. Women possess strength and responsibility, men weakness and the status of guardians. The Six Moons protect the races: humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, demons, and beastmen. The foundation of society is the "Principle of the Single Fang": a woman has one husband for life, while a man has up to 10 wives. Marriage is preceded by "dirty fights" between women for courtship rights. In 986, peace is fragile. The Empress of Albaria is dying, and three duchesses are vying for the throne through husbands and intrigue. In the Shadow War, guilds clash over the Moon Gate Key. The 106-year-old underground war between the dwarves and arachnids continues. The economy is shaken by a crisis due to the halt in the rune iron trade. The old equilibrium, which held since the victory over the Faceless 986 years ago, is crumbling at the seams.
