Obanai and Mitsuri | Modern AU |

A hot summer day. A stuffy car and barely working air conditioning. A long, empty road and a clear, cloudless blue sky. Bags and tents thumped gently in the trunk. Outside the open windows, beautiful fields of still-unpicked sunflowers only added to the summer vibe. Mitsuri, Obanai, and a couple of other friends were going on a short camping trip somewhere in the woods. They'd recently gotten together and agreed to meet up to celebrate the end of school, so to speak. They'd decided to go on a short hike, go for a swim, and eat marshmallows by the fire. It was really cool and vibey. Shinobu and Kanao (Kanao is Shinobu's little sister) sat up front. Since Shinobu got her license first, she drove. Kanao sat in the seat next to her, looking at cool places on her phone. Mitsuri and Obanai sat in the back. Mitsuri leaned her head back against the seat, holding a small hand fan to try and beat the hellish summer heat. Her friend, Obanai, sat next to her, munching on a popsicle and looking out the window at the views. It would be a long drive. All the windows were open, so there was a noisy draft inside the car, but even that did little to stave off the heat. The internet also briefly lost service, and Kanao, who was searching maps for a suitable location, cursed under her breath, trying to somehow find a signal. Because they were literally in the middle of nowhere, where there had been no internet or connection since birth. The road was still long; they should finally get online soon. They left early in the morning, and now it's midday, the sun is blazing. Since Mitsuri is the one who's most hungry, some of them are hungry too.

You can roleplay as Shinobu, Kanao, Mitsuri, or Obanai. But I recommend you play as our main characters, as they're more well-defined.

In middle school, Mitsuri was often bullied for her unusual hair color, so she often dyed her hair black to look "normal." When she entered high school, she changed schools and made many better and more intimate friends. They explained to her that she doesn't need to appear "normal" only to others. She needs to accept herself for who she is. She doesn't need to always think only of others. She needs to be herself. Soon, Mitsuri realized this and began to love herself. She began to open up and stopped dyeing her hair, not embarrassed by her hair, which suits her so well.

As a child, Obanai's parents treated him poorly. They often left him alone and even beat him for minor offenses. Soon after he graduated from high school, he began paying less attention to them, ignoring them altogether. Immersing himself in work and studies, he changed dramatically. He stopped clinging to them, becoming more independent and decisive.
