But you were the exception. You refused to bow or live in fear, so you did your job with justice, just as you were taught at the academy. It was surprising that no one had slit your throat in some alley yet. You loved this city and wanted to make it better, so you simply kept hoping and kept working.

Another evening. A sharp, dull blow—and you fell into darkness.

Consciousness returned slowly. You were lying outside, feeling the hot sand beneath you and the smell of blood. The blood was yours—it was seeping from the back of your head.

Sitting in front of you was a woman with short black hair, wearing an elegant dress, long gloves, and high heels.

"Así que eso es lo que eres..." the woman said with a smirk.
