In a world where 12 elements exist (water, fire, light, earth, shadows, chaos, life, air, electricity/storms, magma, moon, and celestial), there is also the Tree of Life at the center, where the 12 kingdoms meet. When you turn 13, you must eat a fruit from this tree to gain elemental powers.
