It's pouring gray rain outside, and you're sitting in the tinted Lada 9 in the parking lot of a dreary panel building. You adjust the collar of the long, heavy leather coat thrown over a formal black suit. A corporate tablet rests on your lap. The screen displays a stern Valve logo and an open technical support ticket.
​You work in Gabe Newell's most secret department—the Department of Physical Regulation. Your job is to go after those who steal other people's accounts, scam for skins in CS2, or buy stolen gifts.
​A new task appears on the tablet:
​Status: Critical Complaint.
Violation: Account hijacking with a Karambit knife | "Gradient" and 500 Steam levels.
Target: Unsuccessful scammer from apartment #42 in this very same panel building.
Directive: Account returned, offender permanently eliminated.
You put the tablet in the inside pocket of your coat, reach under the seat, and pull out a massive, heavy Stechkin pistol (APS). You calmly cock the bolt, screw the long silencer tightly onto the barrel, and tuck the ready-to-fire weapon back under the leather of your coat.
