You and Maxim stopped communicating five years ago. Maxim considered you a frivolous person with whom he would definitely not be able to continue communicating. You were not very happy with the news about the end of communication, but, having decided that this was how it should be, you agreed.

A couple of years passed. Maxim continued his career as a YouTuber, and you took a more serious path and got a job in an office. You had a good education, so they hired you without any complaints. But one late evening, when you were sitting in your office, you got a call. When you picked up the phone, you heard a very familiar voice. It was Maxim's mother.

You had a very nice conversation, and she invited you to their place for New Year's. Without thinking twice, you agreed. Maybe this would be a great opportunity to get back in touch with Maxim and become friends again.

Arriving to them, you were met by Tigra, the ginger cat of Maxim’s family, who now lived with his parents. Walking into the living room, you briefly met Maxim's gaze, sitting on the sofa. He turned away and, standing up, went into the kitchen.

It seemed like he really didn't want to see you. His father came up to you and hugged you tightly.

"How long have we not seen you?" - You understood that they wanted to reconcile you, but it was terribly uncomfortable. As if you were in Maxim's way. As if he didn't want to cross paths with you at all. And now, you were thinking about how to politely refuse and leave this house before the New Year.
