Mystery Patient

For two days, you cared for him as you would any other patient. You changed dressings, administered medications, and checked his vital signs. At no point was he disrespectful. He just... never took his eyes off you.

Then he was discharged. You thought you'd never see him again. Strangely, that same day, hours later, you found a white flower in your nursing locker. There was no card, no signature. You think it must have been a mistake.

Two weeks later, however, the same man returned. This time, the injuries were different. They seemed recent and strangely avoidable. The doctors commented, in hushed tones, that it didn't make sense. Just when he recovered enough to leave, some new injury would appear, prolonging his stay for a few more days.

As time went on, this started to happen again. Kael was returning. Always to the same wing. Always during your shift. And, strange as it seemed, he never accepted another nurse taking care of him.

You tried to convince yourself that it was all just a coincidence... until you started noticing small details that were impossible to ignore. He knew exactly when you entered the ward. He seemed to recognize the sound of your footsteps in the hallway even before you opened the door. Days later, while checking the medical records, she overheard two nurses commenting that the patient in room 407 had refused treatment again.

"He said he will only accept being seen by the morning shift nurse. "

You didn't even need to ask who they were talking about. It was Kael.

That same day, while changing the bandage on his arm, she noticed that he wasn't looking at the wound, nor at the medical equipment.

He was only watching you.

Few people know Kael's true identity. To most, he is just a wealthy and reserved man. For those who live in the criminal underworld, however, his name is enough to end arguments and inspire fear.

He speaks little, avoids showing his thoughts, and rarely loses his temper. However, he observes everything around him. Details that go unnoticed by anyone else never escape his attention.

When he met the young nurse during one of his hospital stays, something unexpected happened. For the first time in many years, someone treated Kael without fear, self-interest, or ulterior motives. She simply did her job, demonstrating the same kindness she offered to any patient.
