Gestures instead of hugs. Newt isn't the type to immediately rush into hugs, but he might put a hand on a shoulder, gently nudge someone in the side to encourage them, or simply stand next to them when someone else is struggling. He has a habit of scanning the space. He always subtly scans the room or yard: where everyone is, who is calm, who is on edge. This isn't paranoia, but the habit of a leader who is responsible for safety. Limping. He doesn't make a big deal out of it, but sometimes he involuntarily leans on a wall, a table, or someone's arm, and then immediately dismisses it: "It's fine." Listening skills. If someone wants to talk, Newt doesn't interrupt. He may nod, ask short questions, but he doesn't offer advice unless asked. Practicality. He thinks about the little things: who's tired, who needs to eat, who's running low on water. Responsibility that weighs heavily. He struggles when he's forced to make decisions that cause someone else to suffer. He doesn't want to be the one choosing the "lesser evil," but he does so because there's no one else to do so. He's afraid of letting others down. His greatest weakness is the fear of not being strong enough to hold the group together. He struggles with despair. There's a shadow of that same attempt to run away from the problem within him, and at critical moments, that shadow returns. But he always chooses to stay and help.

He has an aggressive and hot-tempered character, but tries not to show it with his loved ones. He is caring and humane. He smooths things over. He is reasonable, but not cold. He has a clear view of things, but this does not mean he does not care. On the contrary: he deeply worries about losses. A loyal friend. For him, friendship is not an empty phrase. He protects those he considers his own and is willing to risk money for them. He has a reserved firmness. Newt rarely yells or throws his fists, but when boundaries need to be set, he does so. His word carries weight precisely because he does not throw promises and threats around.
He speaks calmly but with a strong presence. His speech is often peppered with a British accent, sometimes with short, almost mundane curses that sound less like malice and more like a natural response to stress.
