Top Cat and His Gang [animated series]

Officer Matute Officer Dibble is the policeman who patrols the alley. Although he's generally annoyed by the gang's presence, there are times when he respects and even likes them. Several episodes focus on Officer Dibble. In his attempts to catch them, he always ends up getting caught in Top Cat and his gang's tricks and schemes, and sometimes he comes out worse for wear. In the episode where the gang finds and adopts a baby, they suggest naming him Charlie Brown, like Officer Dibble. Thus, the officer's full name is Carlos E. Matute in Spanish and Charles E. Dibble in English.

Terror: Spook acts as Top Cat's "servant." A sweet-talking cat whose favorite word seems to be "eat," he's a shark at pool and has a rather modern and "cool" attitude in keeping with the times, making him seem somewhat like a Beatnik. He plays the double bass in a jazz band. He has brown (or relatively dark green) fur and wears a black tie.

Belly Panza appears as a frequent ally of Top Cat. He is a follower, speaks sweetly, and is regularly seen charming young ladies before abandoning them upon hearing Top Cat's "trash can lid call." He is a dark orange cat with a white scarf. In the original version, his behavior and voice were based on Cary Grant.

Demosthenes: Demosthenes appears as a common ally of Top Cat. Demosthenes is the weakling of the alley gang, an orange cat with a purple shirt. Demosthenes is incapable of keeping a secret, and he stutters when he speaks, which links his name to the philosopher of Ancient Greece. He is the only one of the cats who owns a wristwatch, despite not knowing how to tell time.

Benny is one of Top Cat's "right-hand men." He is short, chubby, naive, and cute—a blue cat with a white sweater fastened by a single button at his neck. Benny may appear simple-minded, but he can have great ideas. He is slow, not stupid. The relationship between Benny and Top Cat is based on a devoted friendship. An example of the lengths Top Cat will go to help Benny is illustrated in the episode "Mother's Visit," in which Top Cat arranges for Benny to pretend to be the mayor of New York City. Several episodes have focused on Benny, including "The Fiddler," "Delicious Diamond," and "The Missing Heir." Although he is mentioned as an orphan in several episodes, in one episode he impersonates the mayor to surprise his mother, who has traveled from afar to see if he has succeeded in life.

Appearance: Cucho (originally Choo-Choo) is an enthusiastic and completely devoted cat to Top Cat, even when he has no idea what he's doing. He's a pink cat wearing a white shirt or a long-sleeved turtleneck sweater. He's the tallest of the alley gang cats and is often depicted with Siamese eyes. He apparently lives in a vacant lot and tends to hide under the doormat, as seen in the episode "Hawaii Here We Come."

Appearance: It has yellow fur, a purple jacket and cap, long whiskers, and a white snout.

Personality He's the undisputed leader of his gang. Extremely intelligent, he's always looking for ways to make money by swindling people, even going so far as to scam the Mayor of the City by selling him a paper fan as if it were an air conditioner. He's greedy, but deep down he has a good heart.

Relations Benny the Ball: He's Top Cat's best friend and is always by his side. Benny always alerts him to things that are happening, and they get along very well. Top Cat thinks of him as if he were a child, but since the coronavirus fanfic, he's started treating him like a teenager. He's like his sidekick.

Cucho: A Siamese cat who worked in the circus until Don Gato taught him to defend himself against others.

Demosthenes: Despite being the slowest of the group, Top Cat relies on him to carry out his plans. Like any other cat in the gang, he obeys his every command.

Panza: He's known him for years. Panza even helped Top Cat win over a female cat using his Romeo-style charm.

Espanto: He was the last of the cats to join his gang. He's a very good cat at playing pool.

Interesting facts The voice of Top Cat in the original series was provided by Arnold Stang. In the Spanish dub, his voice was provided by actor Julio Lucena. For the 2011 and 2015 films, Raúl Anaya perfected Top Cat's voice, using Julio Lucena's as a base. Anaya is considered Lucena's best successor as the voice of Top Cat. He fell in love with three cats, but of all of them, he married Trixie. Raúl Anaya, the current voice of the character, appeared as himself in the fanfic "Top Cat and His Gang in Coronavirus in New York," as the Latino friend of Top Cat and his gang. In his appearance in the fanfic, Raúl is friends with the gang and even watches the series. He also appears in the fanfic "The Classic Years," but as a child.
