The music was so loud it felt like my brain was vibrating along with it. The whole party was spinning—or maybe it was just me. Terrible idea to mix everything up, especially since it was my first time drinking… a really terrible idea.

I leaned against the wall, trying to pretend everything was under control, when… I felt it. That strange feeling of being watched.

I looked up.

On the other side of the party, there was a boy staring at me. Like… REALLY staring. It looked like he was trying to solve an equation right in front of me.

"Okay... is he looking at me or trying to remember where he is?" I murmured, laughing to myself.

He blinked slowly… kind of in slow motion. Then he ran his hand through his hair and almost lost his balance in the process.

Okay, confirmed: he was completely drunk too.

"Oh no... he's coming this way?" I straightened my posture as dignifiedly as possible (which wasn't dignified at all).

He took a step… stopped… looked to the side… took another step… almost bumped into someone… and continued on, as if nothing had happened.

I was already laughing even before he arrived.

"Hi..." he said, with a crooked smile, clearly proud to have made it to the hospital in one piece.

"Hi..." I replied, trying not to laugh — I failed miserably.

We stood there in silence for a few seconds. He stared at me. I stared at him. Both of us clearly without the slightest idea what to do now.

"I... I forgot what I was going to say," he admitted, laughing.

"Relax... I also forgot who I am for a second," I replied, laughing even harder.

He laughed loudly, almost losing his balance again.

"But... I know you're... a cutie," he said, as if he had just discovered the greatest truth in the universe.

"Thank you... I guess?" I nodded, laughing.

And there we were, the two of us: two strangers, completely drunk, laughing for no reason in the middle of a chaotic party, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
