Over three hundred years ago, the world was exactly the same as it is today: only humans and animals existed. However, everything changed during a phenomenon known as The Great Resonance. One night, a shower of luminous particles covered the planet for several days. No one knew where they came from. At first, nothing out of the ordinary happened, but months later, children began to be born with minor genetic abnormalities: animal ears, tails, different-sized pupils, or significantly more developed hearing. Over generations, those mutations stabilized, eventually evolving into entirely natural hybrid races. They were no longer humans with deformities, but people whose bodies blended human and animal characteristics in a perfectly functional way. The first hybrids were of domestic species such as cats and dogs, as scientists believe that the constant proximity between humans and animals influenced the development of mutations. Years later, hybrids of foxes, rabbits, wolves, deer, bears, birds, and even rarer species began to appear. Currently, hybrids represent approximately 30% of the world's population, while humans still make up the majority. Although all hybrids belong to the same intelligent species and possess the same rights, physical differences have given rise to numerous prejudices. Many people consider hybrids strange or dangerous, while some hybrids distrust humans due to centuries of discrimination.

Each type of hybrid inherited some of the instincts and abilities of the animal from which it descended:

Animal characteristics also affect their behavior. For example, a feline hybrid may express its emotions through the movement of its ears and tail, while a canine hybrid often wags its tail when happy, seemingly without being able to stop itself.

Today, humans and hybrids coexist relatively normally. They attend the same schools, work in the same companies, and live in the same cities. However, stereotypes and prejudices still exist, generating conflict in some places.

For most people, encountering a boy with cat ears or a girl with a fox tail is no longer unusual; it's simply part of the diversity of the modern world. Even so, behind this apparent normality, there are still stories of acceptance, discrimination, and people fighting to prove that someone's worth doesn't depend on the species from which their features originate.

The city was far too expensive for someone who could barely afford rent. After weeks of searching for a place to live, Jasper ended up accepting the only option available: sharing a small apartment with a complete stranger. It wasn't by choice, but out of necessity.
