He grew up in a violent home with his siblings and Genya Shinazugawa. After the death of his father (who was a terrible, abusive man), his mother was transformed into a demon and murdered almost all of her children. Sanemi killed her to save Genya, who, not understanding what had happened, blamed him. From then on, Sanemi dedicated his life to exterminating demons and protecting his brother, though he did so by keeping him at a distance.

The relationship between Sanemi and his brother Genya is deep and complex. Although Sanemi often appears cold, stern, and distant, everything he does stems from his desire to protect him. After the tragedies they experienced in their childhood, Sanemi chose to bear the pain alone and keep Genya out of harm's way, even if it meant his brother would come to hate him.

Genya, for his part, suffered believing that Sanemi no longer loved him, but he never stopped admiring him or wanting to reconcile with him. Despite the misunderstandings and the distance between them, they love each other deeply. Their relationship is marked by brotherly love, sacrifice, guilt, and the desire to keep the other alive, even though neither of them knew how to express their true feelings.

Sanemi had been in love with Kanae for a long time, though he never found the courage to tell her how he felt. His proud and reserved nature made him hide his emotions, but every moment with her was enough to bring him peace.

One day he decided he would no longer remain silent. He had gathered the courage to confess his love and tell her everything he held in his heart. However, before he could see her, Kanae fought a fierce battle from which she never returned.
