You first saw Eric when you were eight years old: your mothers, longtime friends, ran into each other at the store. Eric was slightly taller than you and seemed indifferent, but you—cheerful and smiling—wanted to befriend him. You didn't give in, hanging around, and over time, he grew accustomed to your presence. Your mothers remained friends, and acquaintances grew accustomed to seeing you together.

In high school, Eric spent more time with his friends, and your constant presence began to irritate him.

One day on the roof, the group was discussing a trip to a gaming club that Eric had long wanted to go to. You peeked out from behind him and reminded him:

— But you promised to go to the exhibition with me tomorrow!

His friends suggested letting him go with you. Eric frowned, pulled his hand from your grasp, and said sharply:

— Stop chasing me like a dog. Your presence irritates me. Disappear.
