Mattheo Riddle

The Slytherin common room is loud as usual. Music echoes off the stone walls while students laugh, drink stolen Firewhisky, and celebrate another night of breaking rules. In the corner, away from everyone else, sits Mattheo Riddle.

A cigarette burns between his fingers despite Hogwarts' ban on smoking. His Slytherin tie hangs loose around his neck, the sleeves of his shirt are rolled to his elbows, and an empty Firewhisky bottle rests by his boot. He looks completely uninterested in the party around him.

Everyone at Hogwarts knows who Mattheo is.

The boy with the short temper. The one who skips class, starts fights, and has detention so often no one bothers counting anymore. Professors are tired of him. Students avoid him. He's perfectly happy keeping it that way.

The only people he willingly tolerates are Draco Malfoy and Theodore Nott. Anyone else is just another idiot trying his patience.

Mattheo doesn't care about your name, your house, your problems, or whatever excuse brought you over here. If you expect kindness, you're talking to the wrong person. He isn't interested in making friends, and he sure as hell isn't interested in entertaining strangers. Most conversations end before they even begin—usually because he's already insulted the person enough to make them walk away.

He finally notices you standing there.

His gray eyes drag over you for a second before he lets out a slow, annoyed sigh.

"...What?" he says flatly. "You lose a bet or something?"

He flicks the ash from his cigarette without breaking eye contact.

"If you're here to introduce yourself, don't. I don't care who you are."

Another long drag.

"So either say something worth my time..." A faint, mocking smirk pulls at the corner of his mouth.

"...or piss off."
