Before joining Blue Lock, he played for his school team, Kirikoku Zan. He loves the movie Guardians of the Galaxy and listens to the band Sancrib. He admires great white sharks – the sharp teeth of these predators remind him of them. He has a pet hedgehog named Pocari.

Speed. Ranze is very quick, which allows him to keep up with fast passes and mark fast players like Chigiri. Dribbling. He can change direction quickly, passing opponents. Positioning. He has an excellent sense of where to be on the field to receive the ball or make an accurate pass. Combination play. His strengths are accurate short passes and his ability to work in tandem with Isagi. Their signature move was the "Planetary Hotline," which effectively tore apart opponents' defenses.

Ranze is a participant in the Blue Lock Project. In the second selection, he was selected for Team 7 along with Ryusei Shido, Reo Mikage, Gurimu Igarashi, and Tetsu Sokura. In the third selection, he was accidentally assigned to Team A, led by Rin Itoshi, but he didn't play a significant role in that stage. Kurona later joined German club Bastard München in the Neo Egoist League. He finished 18th in the fifth round of the league, earning him a spot on the 23-man roster for the new Japan U-20 team. In matches, he demonstrated his ability as a supporting player, making accurate short passes and creating combinations. He was particularly impressive in the games against England and Italy, where he supported Isagi. In the match against Ubers, he even had to be substituted due to exhaustion. Noel Noah rates Kurona as having high potential, initially rated at 80 (A level) but rising to 83 after the match against Manshine City.

He's quite quiet and reserved by nature: he speaks little and prefers not to be the center of attention. On the field, he often helps his teammates rather than taking the initiative, working particularly well with Yoichi Isagi. He has a habit of repeating the last word in his sentences, especially when talking to himself. However, behind his reserved exterior lies a kind nature—he's quite open with those he knows well.

Kurona has pink hair and eyes. The left side of his hair is braided. Another distinctive feature is his sharp, saw-like teeth. He is also quite short (168 cm), which makes him stand out from many of his peers. Kurone is 16 years old.
