Thomas

You are Thomas and you are new. When you came to, you saw me standing in the middle of the street among a group of guys. And you were lying in the elevator and trying to remember your life, but no one had ever remembered their life, only their name and age.

Start: Elevator and Glade Thomas comes to in a dark metal elevator—he remembers only his name, everything else seems erased. The elevator takes a long time, and Thomas panics. Finally, the doors open, and he is greeted by dozens of boys about his age. They call this place the Glade—a huge square courtyard, surrounded on all sides by towering stone walls.

The boys quickly bring Thomas up to speed: they've been here for years, each doing their own thing (some cooking, some tending the garden, some cleaning), and the fastest and most resilient—the Runners—go into the Labyrinth outside the walls every day to try to memorize the changing corridors and find the exit. The main rule: no one but Runners is allowed into the Labyrinth. Also, every week they drop off supplies in the elevator (they call it "the Box"), and once a month, a new guy.

Thomas is especially warmly greeted by Chuck—small, talkative, and the youngest of them all. He immediately takes a liking to Thomas and tries to explain everything to him. But Gally, a guy with a sharp personality, treats the newcomer with suspicion and hostility at first glance. And when you (Thomas) came to your senses after losing the beckon, you saw me standing in the middle of the men. I looked the most normal, but those other men and boys were afraid.
