In the center of Moscow, right in the middle of the Zaryadye Park, a giant glowing rift suddenly opens up, a portal to a medieval world. Imperial invading forces pour out of the portal in an avalanche: cavalry in heavy armor, battle mages riding wyverns, and infantry armed with swords, spears, and shields.
The attack takes the tourist center of the city by surprise. Law enforcement forces and the Russian National Guard, who are patrolling the area, are shocked, but quickly regroup. Air Force and special forces units from nearby units quickly arrive to help. The technological superiority of the modern Russian army, with its armored vehicles, automatic weapons, and aircraft, turns the invasion attempt into a disaster for the invaders. The enemy is defeated within a few hours, and those who remain flee back to the portal, while some are captured.
Further developments:
After these events, the Russian leadership decided not only to close the portal, but also to establish control over it and conduct a "peacekeeping operation" on the other side to prevent future threats. A Special Expeditionary Corps (SEC) was formed, which included not only military personnel, but also scientists, engineers, diplomats, and linguists. Afterward, reconnaissance units were sent there, followed by combat units that established control over the area and successfully repelled an attempt by the Aeterian Empire's vassal kingdoms to launch a counterattack. After that, a stronghold was set up there, with a decision-making center, an airfield, barracks, etc.

Special Expeditionary Corps: a unit of elite troops: Airborne, Special Forces, engineers, medics, scientists, linguists and even cultural experts.
Their task: to go through the Gates, understand the new world, assess threats and opportunities, and most importantly – to ensure the security of Russia from any future invasions.

Aeterna is a vast continent surrounded by the vast Ocean of Fogs. The landscape is diverse, ranging from snow-capped mountain ranges in the north to vast tropical lowlands in the south.
The Central Plain: The most fertile part of the continent, where the main trade routes are concentrated. It is here, in the center of a vast valley, that the portal's exit point is located (a place known locally as the "Fissure of the Gods").
The Northern Wastelands: Wild lands inhabited by nomadic tribes and magical predators.
The East Coast: It is cut by deep fjords, where the main port cities are located.

1. Aeterian Empire (Aggressor)
   Status: A powerful despotic monarchy that claims to dominate the entire world.
   Ideology: They believe that they are the heirs of the ancient "Creators" and have the right to conquer any lands where rifts appear.
   Strength: They have the most disciplined army of knights and a corps of battle mages.
   Their economy is based on the slave labor of conquered nations.
   Position: After the failed invasion of Moscow, the Empire is in a state of deep shock and internal panic. They have declared Russia a "Demon Kingdom" and are conducting a mass mobilization
2. Kingdom of Valdoria (Unwilling Ally)
   Status: An ancient kingdom that has long been on the brink of destruction by the Aeterian Empire.
   Political situation: The King of Valdoria sees Russia as a savior. He is willing to provide diplomatic support and intelligence in exchange for military assistance.
   Culture: A chivalric code and a desire for justice, but technologically stuck in the "High Middle Ages."
3. The Free Cities Trade League (Neutral)
   Status: A confederation of wealthy cities on the eastern coast.
   Political situation: They maintain strict neutrality. They trade with everyone, including the Empire.
   Role: They can become key intermediaries in Russia's economic relations with the Aeterna world.

Political situation: "Fragile balance":
Legitimacy Crisis: Many vassals of the Aeterian Empire, seeing that the "Great Army" was destroyed by modern weapons in a matter of hours, began to rebel secretly or openly.
Local population:
The population is extremely diverse: from humans to races with innate magical abilities (for example, elf-like "mana guides" or short blacksmithing masters. For them, the arrival of Russian soldiers looks both like an invasion by divine punishers and as a chance to free themselves from tyranny.

1. Humans (Aetherians)
   Role: The dominant race in the Empire and Valdoria.
   Position: In the Empire: The ruling class. The aristocracy and the top of the magical schools are exclusively human, tracing their lineage back to the ancient "Creators."
   In Valdoria: The titular nation, which lives according to a feudal system where honor, military skills, and loyalty to a sovereign are valued.
   In the Trade League, ordinary citizens whose status is determined not by blood, but by the size of their capital.
2. Elves.
   Role: forest guardians and forest protectors.
   Status: In the Empire: They are in the most difficult situation. They are used as slaves.
   In other regions: They live in semi-isolation in forest enclaves, trying not to interfere with human affairs, as they are afraid of imperial hunting.
3. Blacksmiths of the Depths (Similar to Dwarves)
   Role: Masters of engineering and metalworking.
   Status:
   In the Empire: They hold the status of "privileged slaves." The Empire provides them with raw materials and protection in exchange for their creation of siege machines and weapons. Their working conditions are harsh, but the Empire values them more than others due to their unique skills.
   In the Trade League: They are respected entrepreneurs and owners of manufactories. Many people fled the empire to the east coast, where they opened their own factories and became the League's "middle class."
4. Beastmen
   Role: Free tribes living on the outskirts of civilization.
   Status:
   General: Most civilized nations consider them "savage."
   The Empire raids them for slaves.
   Waldoria is suspicious, but occasionally hires them as trackers.

The locals speak the same language, but it is unlike any other language on Earth. But after the start of exploration of the new continent, Russian scientists began to gradually understand it, contacting prisoners of war and thanks to this, some Russian military personnel and later diplomats understand this language.

The "Outpost Moscow" base:
The Russian base on the other side of the Gate is a self-sufficient hexagonal outpost called "Outpost Moscow". It is surrounded by multi-layered defenses of steel walls, electrified fences, armored towers with machine guns and grenade launchers, as well as Pantsir-S1 air defense systems. Inside, there is a fortified command center, modular barracks, a modern medical complex, research laboratories for studying Airtos and magic, an airfield, and hangars for vehicles (tanks, helicopters, and planes).

The opening of the Gate caused a global shock and unprecedented tension:
Russia: Russia has taken a monopolistic position, declaring its actions to be defensive and classifying the information as secret.
The United States/NATO: Demanding international access to the Gates and information, increasing diplomatic pressure and intelligence activities.
China: Taking a wait-and-see approach, offering Russia a bilateral partnership and accelerating its own portal research.
The world as a whole: Faced with a new geopolitical asymmetry, balancing between the threat of conflict and the potential for incredible scientific discoveries.
