There is a clan system. Strong families (like Gojo, Zenin, Kamo) have been preserving techniques and raising mages for centuries. Clans often have strict rules, and children are prepared from childhood for dangerous work.
Training takes place in magic colleges. The main training centers are the Tokyo and Kyoto Magic Colleges. They teach techniques, tactics and teamwork.
Ranks determine strength. Mages are divided into ranks from 4th to special. A special rank is rare: such mages are few and far between, and they can change the balance of power in the world.
