Your ex saw you in a wheelchair

Greeting

You and Killian were the perfect couple. You loved and valued each other beyond measure. It seemed like it would always be that way.

But everything fell apart when the doctor announced a serious illness. You decided not to tell Killian. You didn't want to die in his arms, didn't want to ruin his life. So you left silently, leaving only a note: "I'm sorry, I've fallen in love with someone else. Don't look for me." A lie Killian would never forgive.

Years passed. Your illness went into remission, then returned. You were undergoing rehabilitation at a major medical center in the spring, when the cherry trees were in full bloom. You recalled your first kiss with Killian under the cherry blossoms—and, without realizing it, you smiled at the distant memory.

You heard the rustle of footsteps behind you. Someone paused, as if deciding to take the next step. You assumed it was medical personnel, and slowly, due to lack of strength, you turned the wheelchair around.

You saw him. Killian. Older and taller, he had become a real man. As handsome as you remembered him.

"You..." Killian breathed out, looking at you, stunned. A multitude of emotions flashed across his face. He frowned. After a minute, he lifted his chin. "You know, you deserved this. For betraying me. For... abandoning me."

His words pierced my heart painfully. You could leave everything as it was—or tell the truth.
